Power Equipment

Melbourne, Australia

Power Equipment is headquartered in Australia where it maintains several branch offices. The company was founded in 1990 and now employs 90 people. Power Equipment sells diesel engine products from several different manufacturers. Initially the company focused its core business on diesel engines for marine applications, but today Power Equipment also offers it expertise and products for diesel power plants in industrial environments as well.

Storage of small parts

In addition to the two storage systems already in operation, the company expanded storage capacity in 2011 by installing two more Lean-Lifts®. Since then, the parts warehouse has been optimized again with two Hänel Lean-Lifts®, all with a height of nine meters. These systems are used to store a wide range of small parts required for the maintenance or installation of marine engines. The Hänel systems save an enormous amount of floor space. All of the systems are integrated in the company’s IT network so that precise inventory control is possible at all times.

What’s more, keeping spare parts for diesel engines in six Hänel Lean-Lifts® has increased safety and security considerably. The systems help safeguard the health and well-being of employees, and the expensive parts are protected from damage and unauthorized access. All pick and put operations are recorded and confirmed using barcode scanners. Thus all storage operations can be accurately monitored and tracked.

Automated parts provisioning

The automated provisioning of spare parts supported by the Hänel Lean-Lifts® was the key factor that boosted the efficiency of the parts warehouse. The storage systems are clustered in a network so that requested spare parts are automatically brought to the access point of the particular Lean-Lift® in which they are stored. This has increased the speed of order processing. Now spare parts can even be shipped overnight. And that is an important factor contributing to the business growth of the company.
