Hewlett Packard

Hewlett Packard is a renowned global manufacturer of desktop computers, printers and software

In Ireland and Northern Ireland the company employs more than 4,000 people at four sites in Galway, Kildare, Dublin and Belfast. The mission of the company is to produce technologies that improve people’s lives. To improve its own operations, Hewlett Packard invested in four Hänel Lean-Lifts® that make life easier for employees.

Due to high demand, the manufacturing process for ink cartridges and toner must be fast and effective. If a machine fails, tools must be available from a central depot so that repairs can be made quickly. This is possible with the Hänel Lean-Lift®.

Furthermore, and in compliance with Hewlett Packard’s policy of constant optimization, the company wanted to provide warehouse employees with a safe work environment.

Enhanced safety with Hänel ESB

To achieve this goal, seven existing storage systems were replaced with four Hänel Lean-Lifts®. The solution also includes Hänel’s ESB (Expanded Safety Bypass) package to boost availability. By activating the ESB system via the microprocessor controller, the user can continue to operate the Hänel Lean-Lift® in defined cases despite a malfunction. This redundancy system consists of seven integrated safety circuits.

The team also requested the installation of a fire warning and extinguishing system based on nitrogen gas. This provides added protection in case of fire.
